Woo! Man, it’s been a rough past 30 days for me. Somehow I managed and kept my 360, made it through work, and survived another year. August 10th I turned 26, putting myself one foot further in the grave. However, the older I get, the more I realize…birthday’s suck! Basically I got cash from family which is great, but it all went to pay bills, and what isn’t spent yet is going to pay the fee’s to keep my site operational, as well as to get my cable turned back on. Thankfully with Microsoft teaming up with Netflix and Hulu, I won’t have to worry about cable tv soon and plan to drop it and just keep the internet. But aside that, no games! A few comics I picked up as a gift to myself to play catch up in the Marvel Comics’ Fear Itself story line, as well as the latest issue of Venom, but that’s about it.
However, for my 26th, I decided to sit down and work on EDF for a bit, though I didn’t get to finish it like I wanted to. Instead, I returned it, deciding to take a bit of a break from it, and picked up Transformers: Bark at the Moon. It doesn’t show in the gamercard yet since I’m off-line, but overall it’s not that bad a movie licensed game with some pretty easy achievements. However, I’m taking it back, not that I don’t have interest in it, I just don’t have the time to sit down and play it, and with RedBox, it’s $2 US a night to rent a game so nights are just racking up where it’s sitting here not being touched.
I also had the misfortune to learn the local Blockbuster to me, the last one close to me as well, is now closed. The nearest one is about 25 minutes away, and NO GAME is worth driving 25 minutes into the worst part of North East Pennsylvania. So, any new retail games I’m just buying I guess. But, the goof news is my bill situation is about caught up and I’ll be straightened out hopefully with my next paycheck. Which is good because I fully intend to pick up a Kinect soon, which will allow me to go and do more guides, especially since there will now be one new Kinect arcade game each month. Granted my crippled body will make those games a little more difficult, but hey, I’m an arcade gamer, so it won’t hurt to try some of them out. Of course, all of this comes from the fact that I freakin’ want Kinect Fruit Ninja! And yes, that is my first game I intend to purchase with the Kinect.
But, between the scored of EDF that did not load, as well as the score from Transformers: DotM, I broke into the 114k territory. Which is awesome since Fizz has overtaken my score, which is something I simply cannot allow to endure. You hear that Fizz? I’M COMING AFTER YOUR SCORE! *insert evil cackeling here* I know, I could be curing diseases, but instead my goal is to overtake Fizz’ s score once more.
As a side note, I also had the chance to check out some new game to film adaptations. I did a review of the THE KING OF FIGHTERS film, which can be read at www.apochs.net, and also got to check out the live-action TEKKEN, which I plan to review soon. I kind of enjoyed both, though I thought TEKKEN was a lot better in comparison. However, I have yet to finish it, the film lost me at the last 30 minutes when they shift the concept of the Iron Fist tournament around. I must say this is the closest adaptation I’ve seen in a while to the original concept material, so if you like some action and a good plot, it’s worth checking out. The action sequences can be pretty sweet, are much better then the female fight scenes in THE KING OF FIGHTERS with much tighter choreography, and Yoshimitsu just looks bad ass. Of course the sex appeal makes me happy with it too, not quite being full fan service, but enough to bring a smile to the face of any nerd boy.
So, as I’m coming off my birthday hype, which actually was not that great considering I was sick from the heat due to natural weather and air conditioners not working properly at work or home (at home it was just too hot out for it to keep up), I’m going to actually be properly celebrating it at the bar Tuesday night into Wednesday, which was the plan last week that backfired due to illness. I’m also planning to sit down and do a little more work on Rocket Knight, which I FINALLY just put enough time into to grab a few achievements the other night. I doubt I’ll sit down and 100% this game, but it’s keeping me preoccupied at least…
