Assassin’s Creed 3

Author Notes

Once you complete the game there is one achievement/trophy that requires you to have some sort of connection to the internet. The reason for this is because it's based off other users placing pivots around the world. This will be introduced to you once you re-enter conner's world to clean up anything you've not completed. See "Head in the Clouds" under the Misc section to find out more information about this.

Once you re-enter the world you will experience a short cut-scene, then you can explore as before. To complete these missions, just follow the “!” markers on the screen. There’s not very many things for you to do regarding the epilogue, so once these are complete, you can continue to finish off anything you didn’t finish in the main story.

An Extraordinary Man An Extraordinary Man
Complete the Encyclopedia of the Common Man.

During your exploration of the Homestead, Achilles will mention that you fill your Encyclopedia of Common Man when you have the time. This requires you to study your fellow Homestead dwellers while they work and live life on the Homestead. I don’t recommend doing this early on as you need to find and help all the future residents of the area. Once you complete “A Complete Set”, then you can start to do your research as you will know you have everyone on the homestead.

You may also want to complete all the Homestead missions so that the dwellers have all they need to work and interact with. This is time-consuming, but the rewards are well worth the time.

Once you have all the residents of the Homestead settled, walk up to the name markers on the map and press the :lt: to focus on them. While watching what you’re doing it will prompt you of a new activity logged, or already logged into your diary.

Patent Not Pending Patent Not Pending
Craft one of Franklin’s inventions to decorate your Manor.

As you’re exploring the cities you may be notified of an almanac flying around. You will be told about these pages by Benjamin Franklin at the very start of the game when you first meet him. To craft his inventions for your manor you will need to collect 4 related to the item you want to make. From here you then need to head to the Manor and use the accounting book to craft the item you’re after.

As long as you have the crafting materials this won’t be an issue, but you may want to hold off on crafting these items until a little later in the story once you’ve progress with the Homestead missions as you will have more materials at your disposal to craft with.

In total there are 9 inventions that you can craft, to do so, head to the manor and use the accounting book. Head to the crafting section, then selection the items you wish to craft. You may want to hold off on this until a little later once you’ve completed all the Homestead missions as you will need quite a lot of resources, as well as artisans which can craft the items you desire.

Once you make one of the 9 inventions, this will unlock. Remember that you need to make all 9 inventions for the 100% completion achievement/trophy.

House Party House Party
Recruit any of the Artisans and see them settled on the Homestead.

This will come fairly early on, as once you return to the Homestead after one of the early missions in the game, a man is in trouble and requires your help. Once you save him from the bandits you invite him to stay on the Homestead and make it his home.

This will be your first interaction with an outsider to join the Homestead, but there may be others you can ask to join before. If you see a Homestead icon on your map at any point, interact with it and that will then lead to any Artisan joining your Homestead. See “A Complete Set” for further information.

A Complete Set A Complete Set
See all the optional characters settled at the Homestead.

As you progress through the game you will encounter various citizens that require your help. In return of helping them, you ask them to join your Homestead and help build the community. You will know when there is a citizen in need as the Homestead icon will appear on the map in the various areas you enter. Once helped, the citizen will join the Homestead which will in turn allow you to trade new items. The more you help the people of your Homestead will reward you with new items to trade as well.

You will need to continue to assist the people living on the Homestead to find everyone, as some Homestead missions open up access to new people joining. Just keep helping the people on your Homestead and in return they will open up new opportunities to you, as well as draw new residents to the area.

You will need to find and help the following people for them to join the Homestead:

  • Big Dave
  • Ellen
  • Father Timothy
  • Godfrey & Terry
  • Lance
  • Lyle White
  • Myriam
  • Norris
  • Oliver and Corrine
  • Warren & Prudence

Original Gamer Original Gamer
Win a game of Fanorona, Morris and Bowls on the Homestead.

In the Homestead you will find three games, Fanorona, Morris and Bowls. These three games can be quite tricky to get the hang of, so I suggest you learn the game and how the AI plays, as well as what you need to do to win. You most likely won’t win the first time, but once you know how to play, it gets a little easier each time.

This game is rather simple in theory, you’re basically playing a game where you need to eliminate all of the other players chips, but this is far harder playing the AI than it should be. You can move your chips in any direction you so wish, and the direction you do move your chips in will remove the opponents chips if they’re on the same line. You need to think very carefully, and try to plan out a route to try and capture as many chips in a single move as possible.

This game is a little harder to understand than the other two, but the whole objective is to capture all the points on the board and remove your opponents chips. So it’s a little bit like Fanorona, but instead you want to fill the board with your chips. You also have free range where to place your chips when you have three left, and you can also remove other players chips once you place three of your chips in a row. You want to try to line up as many chips as you possibly can to remove your players chips. Just be careful when you place them and try to block your opponent from getting three chips in a row as this will allow them to remove any chips they see fit, which could cause you to lose the game within a single move.

Bowls is also another game which is rather simple in nature, but with practice and patience you can become a master quite easily. For this you need to keep your bowls as close to the red ball as possible. The more bowls you have close the red ball the more likely you will win the point. The whole objective is to keep your opponents bowls away from the red ball and block them if possible, or knock them out of the way to score the points required to win.

Blowing in the Wind Blowing in the Wind
Retrieve every page for one of Ben Franklin’s Almanacs.

Fairly early on you will be introduced to Benjamin Franklin, he will tell you about his book of missing Almanac pages. These pages are scattered around all over the place, which are indicated by page markers on the map. You will also be notified of how to collect them when you enter the area for one. These pages will be flying around the cities, so you have your work cut out for you if you want to collect them all.

Multitasking Multitasking
Complete 50% of the Progress Tracker entries.

See “Perfectionist”.

Perfectionist Perfectionist
Complete 100% of all main mission constraints.

As you progress through the game you will notice that you’re given a set group of constraints to earn 100% sync within the mission you’re currently doing. You can keep track of all your progress via the DNA tracker. Once you complete all the main story constraints with 100% sync, this will unlock. This over covers the 12 sequences related to the story.

Completionist Completionist
Complete ALL progress tracker grid entries.

If you completed all the main story missions with 100% sync and thought you got away without having to do everything else in the game the complete it, then you’re in for the long road. This achievement/trophy requires you to complete everything in the game with 100% sync. This ranges from the story mission progress, all the way up to completing the various hunting challenges and collectibles.

You can keep track of all the progress you’re making via the DNA tracker as that’s where all your progress data is stored. You will need to complete the following constraints to unlock this by earning all 17070 points listed in the DNA tracker:

  • Collect all Feathers
  • Peg leg Trinkets

In Good Standing In Good Standing
Complete all challenges for any of the Clubs.

There are four clubs spread out over the two cities and frontier. Frontiermen, Thieves, Brawlers and hunting. When you start completing challenges for one of the four clubs, you will need to progress three levels to fully complete the requirements for this. The hunting challenges are probably the most straight forward and easy as you only have to hunt animals, and if you complete the Frontiermen side missions you will complete a lot of the requirements quickly.

Man of the People Man of the People
Liberate all districts in Boston OR New York.

As you enter New York and Boston you may be notified of distressed citizens. With each city there are three districts which you can liberate and help the people in need. There is also one main liberation mission for each district. As you complete the various citizen based missions you will be working towards one main mission.

Once you assist all the people in need with the district, you will then need to compete the final liberation mission for that district. Once you complete all three districts you will then have liberated the city. You only have to do this for one whole city, but you can do either or. And if you wish to gain extra Assassin’s for your creed, you will need to liberate the rest of the alternative city.

Spit Roast Spit Roast
Perform a double assassination using a musket.

Muskets are in regular supply around the cities, and most Red Coats as well as other soldiers will carry them. You will need to obtain one of these rifles, then perform an assassination on two enemies with it. There are always musket racks around the docks, so make your way to a rack, pick up a musket, then find two enemies talking. Walk behind them and press :x: to perform an assassination. You will then stab through one, and shoot the other.

Circus Act Circus Act
Kill 15 guards with a single cannon shot.

During Sequence 10, you will need to protect the patriots from the Red Coat army. As this happens you will offer to hold off the army with a canon. As you start out, move the aiming crosshair to the front of where the army is entering the area. Once you line up your shot, fire just the army enters the area and you should kill 15+ guards in one go.

This is fairly straight forward, but very easy to miss if you’re not aiming for the achievement/trophy.

Predator Predator
Hang 5 enemies by using rope darts.

You will be given the rope darts fairly early on, which is then followed up with a tutorial on how to use them. Once you have the darts, you just need to continue to use them until you’ve hung 5 enemies. Throughout the Frontier there are plenty of opportunities to earn this, so just enter the area, and climb several trees near marching Red Coasts. All you have to do then is hang 5 of them and this will unlock.

Prince of Thieves Prince of Thieves
Loot a convoy without killing any of its guards.

As you traverse the world you will come across a group of redcoats and their loot. This can be almost anywhere, but will always be on a road. Once you encounter them, use your fists to take them down. This will allow you to knock everyone out, rather than kill each enemy. Once you remove the protectors of the convoy, you can then claim your loot from the back of the wagon.

Whit's fur ye'll no go by ye! Whit’s fur ye’ll no go by ye!
Block a firing line 5 times by using a human shield.

While fighting groups of guards, usually several will stand back in a firing line. If this happens, you can quickly grab one of the enemies next to you by pressing :a: when the yellow hazard makers appear above the firing line soldiers. If you manage to perform the human shield 5 times throughout the game this will unlock.

Always pay attention to what is going on in the background. These guards always seem to sneak into the area and setup while you’re busy fighting a small group of enemies.

Jager Bomb Jager Bomb
After becoming fully Notorious, kill 10 Jagers before losing your notoriety.

You will rarely come across a Jager while exploring the world unless you try to access a high security fort. These enemies are extremely tough and require you outsmart them otherwise they will kill you. The first thing you need to do is raise your Norotious level to three which just requires you to kill enemies. The more you kill, the faster they will start to appear.

You can’t miss these enemies as they wear a black hat, which a black masked hood. They will also counter you if you try to combo them. Just start killing the various Jagers that show up. Always use :b: to counter if they’re going to strike you, then press :a: to beak their guard. Doing so will allow you to attack them with ease. You don’t always need to counter them, but breaking their guard is a must if you want to take them down quickly.

Magna cum Laude Magna cum Laude
Have a Trainee reach the Assassin Rank.

Must like the previous two Assassin’s Creed games, you can obtain yourself several Assassin’s to work with you. To have one of your Assassin’s reach the rank of Assassin you will need to send them on contract work via the Assassin’s Menu, or by calling them in using the :lb:. Doing so will earn them XP, so the more you use them, the faster they will level up.

Once one of your Assassin’s reaches this rank, this will unlock. This may take some time, so make sure you use your contracts effectively and don’t neglect your Assassin’s as they can be extremely useful in large fights. You can however only call on them while in the cities. If you want to level them up while on the Homestead or Frontier, you will need to send them on contract work.

Side Missions

Bring Down the House Bring Down the House
Explore Fort Wolcott.

Before you can attempt this you will first need to find one of Peg Legs trinkets. These are marked on your map with a cup style icon. There are 24 hidden around the world, but if you’re having difficulty finding them, you can buy a map of their location from one of the general stores.

Once you have one of these trinkets, return to Peg Leg and he will give you a location of where to find part of the map to find Kidd’s Treasure. This will be the first mission of this set of side quests, but it rewards you with this achievement/trophy.

Kidd Gloves Kidd Gloves
Uncover the mystery of Oak Island.

To discovered the mystery of Oak Island, you will first need to collect all 24 Peg Leg trinkets. Once you have them, return to Peg Leg at the dock in the Homestead and he will give you the rest of the locations required to find the remaining parts of the amp to reach Oak Island.

From here you just need to complete the areas and obtain the sections of the map. Once you have the map complete, you will then need to complete the puzzle on Oak Island to find Kidd’s Treasure.

All Washed Up All Washed Up
Complete all Naval Missions aboard the Aquila.

After restoring the Aquila you can take it out to sea to complete various Privateer missions, as well as a storyline related to the whole naval side of the game. There are four missions related to the Naval Missions which are marked on the world map from any Harbor Master with the Templar sign. You may want to complete the various Privateer Contracts before starting these missions just to get the hang of fighting at sea with other boats, but it’s not a requirement.

You will need to complete the following four missions for this:

  • The Chase
  • The Rescue
  • French Involvement
  • Biddle’s Hideout

Entrepreneur, not Pirate! Entrepreneur, not Pirate!
Complete all 12 Privateer Contracts.

The Privateer Contacts are accessible through the Harbor Master once you repair the Aquila. Once you have the ship repaired, all you have to do is complete the 12 naval contracts provided. These missions vary from easy to hard, but they’re all pretty straight forward. Before you attempt these, you may also want to buy some upgrades for your boat as several fights can be a little tricky to complete.

If you don’t see all the missions on your map from the beginning, or run out, you may need to complete sections of the Naval Missions to unlock new contacts.

You will need to complete the following Privateer Contact from your local Harbor Master:

  • Henderson in Distress
  • Paving the Way
  • Dread of Night
  • Troubled Waters
  • Raiding the Prospector
  • One of a Kind
  • Blistering Dawn
  • A call for Help
  • Search for the Somerset
  • The Sea Wolves
  • A Midnight Engagement
  • The Giant and the Storm

By Invitation Only By Invitation Only
Be invited to join a Club.

During your progress from your village at the start of the game you will have a random encounter which will invite you to join one of the clubs. This interaction is random, but you can’t avoid it so it’s somewhat story related.

Tumblehome Tumblehome
Upgrade the Aquila.

The Aquila is your main vessel which you earn through repairing it towards to the start of the game. Once you have the ship you can visit any harbor master and use their upgrade ledger to buy extras for your ship. These can range in price, so you may want to pick and choose between what seems worth while and what doesn’t. If you’re just looking to earn the achievement/trophy, then the canon upgrade is the cheapest and fastest updated to buy for your ship.

Monopoly Man Monopoly Man
Send a convoy to Boston, New York and the Frontier.

Throughout the world there are 9 stores which you can interact with. You only need to find one of each store in each territory, but once you find one, you will need to make a trade there. Once you’ve traded with one store in each location, you can then return to the Homestead and send a convoy to Boston, New York and The Frontier. Once you do this, the achievement/trophy will unlock.

You may want to hold off until a little later on in the game once you have more settlers to perform different trades with.

Coureur des Bois Coureur des Bois
Exchange undamaged pelts at all different general stores.

After you’ve been introduced to hunting, you will be able to collect pelts from the enemies you kill. You can then take these pelts and other animal parts to general stores and exchange them for money. There are 9 stores throughout the world, three in each area, Boston, New York and The Frontier. These stores won’t appear on your map, you need to find their locations, but once you walk near one of these stores they will appear on your map. They’re marked with the pounds sign (£). You will need to trade one pelt with each store, so make sure you don’t sell them all at once in one place if you want to earn this.

The following stores you need to trade at are listed below:

  • Child’s Still House of Dry Goods
  • Elizabeth Murray’s Fineries
  • Hancock’s Store No. 5

  • Murdoch’s Barter
  • The Milliner’s Wares
  • The Walking Haberdashery

New York

  • De Lancey’s Imports & Goods
  • Rhinelander’s Sugars
  • Van Brugh’s Spices

Eye Witness Eye Witness
Witness a predator killing an enemy

This is somewhat random, but if you spend enough time in the Frontier you will see a Red Coast fighting with various animals. The most common place to see this is on the western side of the frontier where there are always two red coats patrolling near a base. If you climb the rocks, you will usually hear some shouting and commotion. If you hang around long enough, you will unlock this as  you just need to be in the area as it happens.

Alternatively, just explore the Frontier and this will unlock at some point as you stalk wildlife or various enemies.

Secret Achievement Head in the Clouds
Find all pivots and sync the Animus to the Cloud.

After completing the game you will re-enter the Animus which will allow you to continue whatever you have left over in the world. This can be anything from collectibles and so on. If you’re completing the Epilogue, you will end up in Boston again, which will then lead you into a new mini game which is related to other users playing the game.

You will be introduced to the pivot system, which requires you to find hidden pivots in the world using your own pivots to triangulate their location. You can look up pivot locations via the map screen through the new animus section. But all this will be explained to you once you’re able to place them.

As you place pivots around the area you’re in, a small box marker will show up on your map when you’re close to a pivot you can collect. There’s no way to know where these objects are as they’re drawn randomly from other players playing the game. The best way to find pivots is to keep playing them in areas, then explore the green areas between all three pivots on your map. You will also be notified where new pivots appear in the world.

Note: This achievement/trophy requires you to be connected to the internet at all times while completing it.

Abstergo Entertainment Abstergo Entertainment
Reach level 20 in the multiplayer mode.

This will come naturally while playing through the multiplayer modes. Almost everything rewards you with XP to level up. So just keep playing until you reach rank 20. If you don’t really want to play against other players, you can play Wolfpack and earn XP from killing the AI.

Hunter/Killer Hunter/Killer
Reach sequence 10 in a map on Wolfpack multiplayer mode.

Wolfpack is a new game mode where you join a team of human players, who then hunt down AI players in the world. This is a fairly simple concept, take all the skills you’ve learned, then kill the AI and score points while doing so. You will need to hit a set point requirement to reach each sequence, so makes sure your kills count and don’t just run out into the open and alert the AI. This will just earn you low scores and make the game harder.

Once you reach sequence 10, this will unlock. This can be easier or harder depending on how good your team is. If half your team is just running around trying to get easy kills, this will be near impossible to earn with those players.

Winning Team Winning Team
Be on the winning team at the end of a multiplayer game session.

This is another fairly straight forward achievement/trophy. All you have to do is be on the winning team for one game. You can join late or even play with a friend privately. Once the game ends with a victory for your team, this will unlock. You shouldn’t have too many issues earning this as the game modes tend to be very one sided. So if your team is doing well from the beginning, you will most likely will the game.

Personalized Personalized
Customize your multiplayer Profile and Character.

To unlock this you will first need to earn some credits for playing the game. Credits are rewarded for completing matches and working your way through the multiplayer. Once you have enough credits to unlock various items in the character menu, edit your style, buy an alternative costume or alter your appearance and this will unlock.

You can also update and change your profile from the same menu.

The Truth Will Out The Truth Will Out
Unlock a hacked version of one of the Abstergo videos in the story quest.

During your progression through the multiplayer, you will unlock various story additions to watch through the story menu. These videos will unlock various different pieces of information, but if you look closely there are also _hack versions as well. To unlock these hacked videos you will need to complete a set requirement by completing challenges in the various multiplayer modes. You can hover over each _hack video tile to see the requirements of how to unlock the videos. The first video requires you to complete “The Vulture” ad “The Vengeful” challenges which can be completed privately with friends or in Wolfpack.

Just find the challenges that seem to be the easiest to earn and work towards them. Most challenges are fairly easy, but they can be time-consuming.
