Bane of Thedas
Handed victory to the archdemon by killing Ferelden’s last Grey Warden. (Darkspawn Chronicles)
This will come naturally with progression through the Chronicles. Once you work your way up to the archdemon and complete the final battle this will unlock upon completing.
Keep the initial ogre alive as your thrall throughout the entire module. (Darkspawn Chronicles)
At the start of the Chronicles you will have to fend off a small horde of soldiers. At some point you will be told to help to Ogre. Once you get to the Ogre you will need to thrall him so he joins your party, you can do this by pressing and highlighting him.
From here you will need to keep the Ogre alive through the whole Chronicle, this may sound quite difficulty, but it’s all dependent on difficulty. If you’re playing on casual, then this shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.
At some point you will get to an area where you will need to open a gate for the Ogre to access the next area. Once you open the gate, you will need to thrall him again so he’s part of your party. If you don’t do this in time another Ogre will appear and you won’t be able to tell the difference between the two.
Earned maximum approval from all thrall types. (Darkspawn Chronicles)
Before you start this, make sure that you do not kill the Ogre while swapping out your thralled party members. This is most important if you want to earn “Ogre’s Keeper” within a single run through of the game. To thrall a character at any point you will need to press then highlight and select the comrade of your choice. There are six classes which you much thrall and earn full approval from, but you can only have three faction types within your party at once. To earn maximum approval from each thrall type you will need to kill as many people as possible until their approval meter is fully maxed out into the white area of the bar.
If you miss either Genlock or Hurlock at the start of the Chronicles, it is possible to pick them up later on and earn their full approval.
Once you have 100% approval from one of your party members, you can cut them and thrall a new member. To remove someone from your party, hold the then press . Select which party member you wish to kill and press . Just remember don’t kill the Ogre or remove him from your party.
Once a party member reaches 100% approval they won’t need to be thralled or need you to earn their approval. Once you’re split from your Ogre, his approval level will drop to neutral once again. Don’t be alarmed by this, as you should have already earned you 100% approval before you reach this area.
Once you earn a 100% approval rating for all character factions this will unlock straight away.
Denerim – City Gates
Note: During this district you will encounter an endless spawn of soldiers from the various buildings around the market, make sure you take full advantage of these spawns as you can earn full approval of all three party members before you reach the Alienage.
Make sure that you also earn 100% approval with the Ogre before you proceed to the Alienage and the Palace, your Ogres approval rate will be reset once you open the gates for him.
- Hurlock Emissary
- Blight Wolf
Note: Before you reach the fight with Sten towards Fort Drakon, you can trigger an endless spawn of dwarfs. Continue up the different sets of stairs, keep to the left side and look for the Ballista at the bottom of the stairs. Once you kill the enemies in this area, save, then slowly walk up the stairs, once you get about half way up the stairs, turn around and come back down. You should now have an endless stream of dwarf enemies entering the area from a door just next to the Ballista.

Heard Leliana’s version of her betrayal.
This will unlock with natural progression through the DLC. Once you reach the end of the story and find out the fate of Leliana and what she is running from, this will unlock just before the end credits.
Collected and assembled the Battledress of the Provocateur.
Throughout the chapter you will need to find and collect 6 pieces titled Masterwork Leather Piece. They are all called the same thing, but are found throughout the various sections of the chapter. Once all 6 pieces are found you will find a new piece of armor in your inventory which will aid in your success towards the end.
One vital skill that you must upgrade is Leliana before you do anything is her lockpick skill. This will be the only major skill you need to update, but make sure you do it as soon as you can. This is a vital upgrade so that you can access piece number 3.
Masterwork Leather Piece 1
This first piece is located on Jovi Merice’s body once you kill him. Remember to take it before you take his body.
Masterwork Leather Piece 2
Once you complete the market you will then enter the castle. From here you will need to fight your way through the various rooms to get to your quest marker. After you enter the first guards quarters, head through the room just after into a long hallway. As you enter there should be a locked door in front of you, unlock the door and you will find this piece in a locked iron chest in front of you.
Masterwork Leather Piece 3
Continue forward until you see a short cut-scene with Marjolaine. After she lures the guard away you can access the room where your quest marker is located. Before you complete the quest-line you will need to open the chest just to the right of the bed.
Masterwork Leather Piece 4
After you leave the Palace you will need to return to correct your wrong doing. You will now have access to another part of the Palace as you try to make your escape. Follow the long hallway which will then lead to a room. Go through the room and you will see a door on your right as you exit into the next hallway. This doorway will be locked and will need to be lock picked. Open the door and kill the enemies inside. Once you’re in the clear run over to the armor stand in the back of the room. This will be your next piece of masterwork leather required.
Masterwork Leather Piece 5
Once you become a prisoner, you will need to escape. Doing so is fairly easy, but requires a lot fighting to do so. Continue through the dungeon until you find find Tug. At this point you will open a gate to continue forward. Once the gate is open, leave the room and enter the room just across from tug and the switch. As you enter you will need to kill a small group of guards. Once the room is clear, walk over to the locked check and collect your next Masterwork piece.
Masterwork Leather Piece 6
The final piece of this puzzle is located within the draw at the Chantry. Once you arrive complete the conversation then turn around. Walk up the dresser behind you and open the draw to reveal this final piece.
Destroyed the career of Guard Captain Eams.
At the start of this chapter you will find yourself in Dendrium Market, from here you will need to fence a few items. As you complete the quest markers around the areas you will soon find Guiard Captain Eams passed out in front of a tavern. You can walk up to the Captain and plant the stolen items you have picked up from around the market on his body. The only thing you must make sure of is to not place any of your fenced items in to the various chests. Doing so will cause you to lose the items and thus cause you to start over as you will need to place all 6 items on his body. You will also have to place several items on his body which are located within the area.
‘Do not place this in alternative chests or you will have to start over, just take them and place them on Captain Eams body.
- Tevinter Antiquities
- Fereldan Jewelry
- Historical Costumes
- Bann Perrin (Suspect Underthings)
- Jovi Merice (His Corpse)
- Mages’ Collective Signet
Once you have all these items, return to the Guard Captain and place them on his body. Once you’re done ruining his career signal to Marjolaine that you’re ready to proceed.

Defeated the Harvester
Defeating the Harvester isn’t really difficult, but it does have two spaces, one in his full form, the second in his true form. After completing this fight you will unlock this achievement/trophy.
See “Grim Reaper”
Defeated the Harvester on Hard or Nightmare difficulty
If you have decided to attempt this, you should probably prepare very carefully before hand. I personally had to start a new character just so I could create the perfect character just to take on the Harvester. You won’t experience anything quite as difficult as this fight, so prepare wisely. Remember that any special DLC related items such as armor, swords and any other DLC related items you may have found.
You can play through the whole DLC on casual until you get to the forge where this fight starts. Just before you start, make sure you have a save before the fight, then change the difficulty to hard. Something you must make sure you do have is plenty of health, I went into this battle with 50 or so health poultice’s, and walked away with around 40. Though I may have used very little, using the Golem to heal your party members none stop helps, but you should always carry extra.
This will be one of the most vital things to get right, if you don’t have the right skills in the right place, you’re going to have great difficulty keeping your party alive. For this setup you will be required to play as a warrior. I tried to attempt this with a Mage but the fight feels quite one sided as your party tend to be extremely varied.
Warrior Noble (Level 25+)
Make sure you have a high strength and constitution, these two things alone will determine how long you stay alive and how much damage you inflict to the Harvester.
Blightblood Longsword ( fitting with poison and varied runes)
Cailans’s Sheild **
Grey Warden Plate Helm *
Grey Warden Plate Armor *
Cailn’s Gauntlets **
Grey Warden Plate Boots *
* Awarded for importing a character into the Awakening DLC.
** Recovered from return to Ostagar)
Though these items are DLC related, there are plenty of other strong armor types in the game, but your armor only makes a small difference to how your character deals with attacks.
For the rest of your party you you should have a least 1 healer, one archer and one warrior style character. The follow setup is what I used for my party:
1. Self: Health <75%
Runic Golem: Healer
Alley: Health < 75% Group Heal
Self: Health < 75% Group Heal
Self: Manon or Stamina < 50% User lyrium potion: Most Powerful
To earn the healing abilities you must first find the various secret notes hidden around the halls. See “A Secret Stitched Together” below for details on their locations.
You will also want to set Group Heal and Revival as the two main skill actions to assign to your face buttons. This way while switching between party members you can heal or revive quickly while playing as the Golem.
Self: Health <75%
Harvester Fight: Part 1
From here you should be set to take on the Harvester. To start with attack the Harvester with your main character, then switch to the Golem. Your other party members will then start to attack our target, allowing you to take the Golem and stand by the switch on the right side of the room. Every time this switch is active and the room is red, switch over to the Golem and use and select the switch. This will instantly kill the skeletons in the room, allowing your party to concentrate on the Harvester. Every time the room turns red keep switching to your Golem to activate the switch and remove the extra threats.
You should be able to leave your Golem near the switch and it should stay there. It should also heal your party on a regular basis. Concentrate on your main character and use all of their abilities to hit harder and faster. You may also want to use any extra skills you may have to come down harder on the Harvester.
If you’re doing well you should be lowering the Harvesters health in a slow but steady fashion, just try to keep all of your party alive during this first part of the fight.
Harvester Fight: Part 2
If you have made it past the first part of this fight, you shouldn’t have any difficulty with the second. From here the Harvester will be jumping around the room in it’s true form. It’s a lot faster than before, but a lot easier to kill. At this point you will end up with a flood of red skeletons within the room, try to ignore them and concentrate on the Harvester.
Hopefully this information has been of some use, and good luck with taking on this very simple but annoying boss fight. Remember, if he’s killing you within a matter of seconds, your character and party probably don’t have the right build and setup to attempt this fight. This fight should take you no more than 5 minutes if done correctly.
A Secret Stitched Together
Gathered all of the research notes in Amgarrak
In total there are 6 secret writings hidden throughout Amgarrak. They are all located within various colour accessed chest or rooms. Be careful though, as you will need to prepare for a fight in some of these areas as the Amgarrak won’t let you get to these research papers easlity. Finding each piece of research will upgrade your Golem and allow you to earn extra abilities to use on your party.
You will need to find the following papers hidden through the Thaig:
- Golem Research Notes: Fire (Located within the Blue Dimension in the great hall. Hidden behind a broken wall.)
- Golem Research Notes: Healing 1 (Northen most west room, Blue Dimension required to access, normal world to open the chest)
- Golem Research Notes: Healing 2 (Northen most room, Pink Dimension required to access, then changed to green dimension to access the chest)
- Golem Research Notes: Lightning (Located within the Northen most room with the second healing script in a green access chest.)
- Golem Research Notes: Mechanics 1 (Located within the same great hall as fire, accessible by a chest while in the Blue Dimension)
- Golem Research Notes: Mechanics 2 (This last one is located within the forge just before you fight the Harvester. You will need to enter down the stairs into the forge, then take a right at the bottom of the stairs and head up another set of stairs. Head up the stairs and collect the final script. At all costs do not cross over the forge to where you fight the Harvester as you will have gone too far.)

Completed “Witch Hunt”
This will come with natural progression through the DLC. Once this complete this chapter this will unlock once you talk to Morrigan at the end.
Defeated the varterral on Hard or Nightmare difficulty
Now, this may sound impossible, but it’s no where near as difficult as the Harvester. For one the Varterral doesn’t really take that much to kill. If you set your mage to heal and then have the rest of your party focus on attacking this monster you should be able to kill it with little to no effort what so ever. If you want to prepare before hand make sure your party members have a fairly high strength and constitution level. That when you will be able to take far more damage and deal a fair amount yourself.
You can play through this whole chapter up until the the fight with the Varterral, you can then pause the game and change the difficulty just before the fight. If you’re not sure where to save and change the difficulty it’s right before the the open area at the end of the dragon wastes. Just be prepared as you will have to also fight a High Dragon at this point as well. The dragon is probably the biggest challenge but it’s still not that difficult to kill.
Through the Looking Glass
Completed the scrying ritual
This is story related and will unlock with natural progression through this chapter. Once you find all the pieces required for the quest in Cadash Thaig you will then proceed to the ritual.
A Time of Wood and Stone
Gathered the lost lore of Cadash Thaig
Once you reach Cadash Thaig you will have to find several items to complete the ritual, on doing so you will also be able to collect 4 parchments of lost lore dotted around the Thaig. These aren’t really difficult to find, but if you’re not one for scavenging you may pass them up.
This note which starts a new quest is located within a chest behind the first open area you reach with a beam of light and a small grassy mound in the middle of the area. The chest is just to the right of a small fire and behind the mound of grass.
Pile of Bones (Worn Journal)
Follow the path until you reach a horizontal wall on your path which will have metal bars in various shapes. You will be able to see through the wall to the other side and there will be a darkspawn horn symbol on top of it. Pass the wall and follow the path a short path which leads to a dead end on your right. This should be the second dead end after the wall.
Pile of Bones (Torn Letter)
Again follow the path until you come to a light orb, you will see the bridge on your left, and an small fire on top of a set of stairs. There is a small nook here where you will find a pile of bones and this next codex.
Spike (Scrap of Paper)
Head over the bridge and look directly to your left as your cross over. You will see the shimmer of the codex hanging on a spike in just to your left.
This is all the codex you ned to find to find the lost lore of Cadash Thaig.
