Party Politics

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Sneaky Sleuth
Complete the party investigation without arousing any suspicion.

This is one of the more time-consuming parts of this achievement list. You will need to complete the following dialog to finish the investigation without raising the suspicion bar. I’ve listed the conversation from start to finish for each NPC you need to talk to. They’re broken up into parties, so make sure you’re talking to the right person as some answers are time gated.

It’s very easy to make a mistake during this set of conversations, so make sure you’re asking the right questions to avoid filling your suspicion meter.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Shoddy Sleuth
Complete the party investigation at the maximum amount of suspicion without being thrown out.

Once you enter the instance, head forward as you would normally. Talk to the noble in party 1, repeat the following dialog and this will raise your suspicion bar to just over 50%.

Party 1: Male Noble

  1. I was expecting to see Minister Wi’s Wife here today.
  2. If he was, then he’s probably involved in these nasty lies about the queen. (repeat 3 times)
  3. I meant no offense.

After talking to this NPC, head over to Minister Estelle and complete the following dialog.

Minister Estelle

  1. Definitely nosy. They say you were in court the same day Scarlet was.
  2. What did Scarlet Want?
  3. Did you see Minister Arton there?
  4. I see.

After you finish this set of dialog with both NPCs, you can continue from conversation set 2 on the “Super Sleuth” dialog train above. Make sure that you make no mistakes as if you do, you will be kicked from the gathering and void your achievement.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide

Your suspicion bar should look like the above example after completing the two conversations.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Super Sleuth
Complete the party investigation using only the twelve necessary conversation steps.

To complete the “Sneaky Sleuth”, you need to bypass the first three conversations listed under “Super Sleuth”. You need to head directly to Minister Estelle and start a conversation. You will see the following dialog below, which will then allow you to continue the investigation from conversation set 2 listed under “Super Sleuth”. After starting this conversation, progress through the dialog as before using the same conversation paths.

  1. Definitely nosy. They say you were in court the same day Scarlet was.
  2. What did Scarlet want?
  3. Did you see Minister Arton there?
  4. I see.

See “Super Sleuth” for further conversation options.

Recalibrating the Waypoints

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Mischief Maker
Urge Taimi to yell at Braham during the recalibration device demonstration.

During the start of this instance, Taimi will tell you to take control of her device after a conversation. Ignore what she asks you to do. Instead head over to the mini waypoint in front of you and start attacking it with your weapons instead. After you’ve attacked it a few times Taimi will start talking to Braham and you will earn the achievement.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Power Squelcher
Defeat the Mordrem leyleecher after it’s reached full power.

After the fight starts with the leyleecher, you will need to fight it for a short time. As you’re fighting it you will notice the power bar on the right hand side of your screen starting to fill. After a short period Taimi will talk if you want to take control of her device, or if you should. Say you will take control of the device, but instead of using it allow the leyleecher to gain bower by drawing energy from the mini waypoints.

After the leyleecher has hit full power, its attacks will become extremely powerful, and all it’s attacks will be amplified. This can happen multiple times during the fight, but it only has to happen once. After the leyleecher has hit full power, just continue the fight and kill it.

Once you kill the leyleecher this will unlock at the end of the fight.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Defender of the Tiny
Protect Taimi from taking any damage while she controls her recalibration device.

This is partly connected to “Power Squelcher” as you will have to decide to take control of Taimi’s machine, or allow her to control it for you. You need to select the option that allows Taimi to control her machine while you distract the leyleecher and kill the enemies that spawn in the area.

You will have to deal with husks that spawn on either side of the area. I suggest using crowd control when at all possible if they’re close to Taimi, but they’re rather easy to kill.

  1. Get on the device, Taimi. I’ll keep them off you

This dialog will pop up when the leyleecher is at 50% health. So make sure you select the right option. Once you’ve defended Taimi and the leyleecher is dead, this will unlock at the end of the fight.

The World Summit

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Can’t Knock Me Down
Complete “The World Summit” while jumping to avoid all stomp attacks.

During the fight with a shadow dragon, you will notice that at off times the floor will fill with a pale salmon colored hue. This hue will pulse 3 times, on the third pulse you will need to dodge or jump the ground attack. The timing for this account is a little hit and miss, but once you figure out the pattern to the attack, this is quite straight forward.

You will need to complete the whole fight without being hit by this ground attack.

See “Mote Master” for fight mechanics.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Untouched by Maw and Claw
Complete “The World Summit” while avoiding all breath and claw attacks.

While avoiding the ground attacks in this fight, you will also need to avoid various AoE attacks that fill the area. They’re fairly obvious as they’re highlighted in great orange markers on the ground. You cannot get hit by any of these markers. The dragon has a set pattern, so it’s easy to avoid.

See “Mote Master: for fight mechanics.

Guild Wars 2 Dragon's Reach Part 2 Achievement Guide Mote Master
Complete “The World Summit” without dying more than twice after speaking with the challenge mote to activate Challenge Mode.

When you enter the instance you will start by the seed that takes you up to the pale tree. Just in front of you, next to a flower, you will find a blue orb floating next to a warden scout. Talk to the mote, it will ask you if you’re interested in a challenge. From here you can activate challenge mode.

After activating the mote, you will then need to continue through the story until you head up to the summit.

For the most part this fight is unchanged compared to the normal, but unlike the normal fight, there’s a few alternations to. Unlike the normal fight, the dragon will spawn health pods. These pods will restore the dragon’s health if not destroyed.

Overall the dragon isn’t that tough, it doesn’t take much to reduce its health bar, but I do highly recommend you bring a few party members if possible. Use the LFG or bring friends. This fight will be over in no time if you’re with other players. If you want a challenge though, this boss can be quite tricky on your own.

Fighting the Dragon (Normal)

At the start of the fight the dragon will appear and then make its way around the outside of the pale tree. It will then poke its head inside and smash the ground with its claw spawning vines. During this attack it will also show a big round AoE attack which you also need to avoid. This is the area the dragon’s claw will slam into the ground.

The dragon will move around to the opposite side that you will attack it and do the same attack. During this time you will need to defeat several dragon tendrils in the area. Once they’re destroyed the dragon will become stunned allowing you to hit it.

The fight will repeat this process several times, taking breaks when you reduce the dragon’s health when you reduce it by 25% each time you attack. During the 50% health and 25% health points the dragon will spawn a mordrem wolf, and a thrasher. I highly recommend that you remove these two enemies from the fight as soon as you can. They will hinder your progress if left roaming the area.

At odd times the dragon will also spit out a poison which fills the area. You will know if this is coming as there will be lots of small circle AoE makers on the ground. These attack is quite damaging so I highly suggest you avoid it at all costs.

Also during this account you will have to avoid a large ground attack which covers the area of the pale tree. This attack will be fairly obvious as the ground will light up with an off pink salmon colored hue. It will pulse, and then you can avoid it once pulses for the third time. This attack isn’t overly damaging, but it can knock you off the platform or into harms way. If you’re using the safe zone below, it’s the only major attack you will have to watch for.

Safe Zone

Now, instead of running around the area avoid all the attacks, there’s one area just opposite of where you attack the dragon when stunned. This area is quite safe from almost everything apart from the tendrils and the ground attack. If you have ranged weapons, minions or pets, they’re most useful here as you can send them off to do most of your damage. And you can hang back using a ranged weapon. This won’t be the case for some classes, but it works well for anyone who is playing with a group.

Challenge Mote

If you’ve opted for the challenge mote to earn this achievement, you may want to avoid going for the other two achievements as it can be quite frustrating.

The overall fight with the dragon is the same, using the same attacks, pattern and so on. The only difference this time is there will be health pods that spawn in the area. These pods will restore the dragons health while it is making your life hell between burn phases.

To kill the pods you first need to receive a buff. This buff will happen when you see a red target marker under your character. From here, you will then be encased in a vine pod. After breaking out of the pod you will have obtained a buff. Once the buff is active you will see it above your head. It’s a prominent blue marker, and it will also be displayed on your skill bar. Once you have this buff you can kill the pods in the middle of the area. Once destroyed they will re-spawn later in the fight, but the longer the fight, the more likely they will re-spawn.

If you have a high damage party, these pods won’t be a problem as if you enter the final burn phase when the dragon has near to 25% health it’s possible to kill it without having to deal with the pods further.

About Fizz

  • J Michael Salvetti

Guys, you have Super Sleuth and Sneaky Sleuth backwards! The steps under the first one will make you fail it, but you’ll still get Sneaky no problem. But if you follow the steps under the third one, you can succeed at Super Sleuth

    • leadexample

Thanks for pointing that out, I’ll fix this shortly.
