Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Echos of the Past Episode
Complete the Echo’s of the Past Episode.

After completing the story this will unlock and allow you to access the rest of the achievements in the story. Just progress at your own pace and you will earn this after completing the various chapters.

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Echos of the Past Mastery
Complete all 7 achievements to prove mastery of this episode.

Much like “Echos of the Past Episode”, this will unlock once you complete the seven achievements tied to the story. You will be rewarded with an ascended item just as you may have been previously for completing the other story elements.

Caithe’s Reconnaissance Squad

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement GuideNo Thank to Canach
Complete Caithe’s Recoonaissance Squad without planing any of Canach’s mines.

During this segment of the story Canach will point out about planing mines on various husk bodies. All you have to do is ignore them all together, fight your way through and avoid planing the mines. You will then need to extract from the area and this will unlock.

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Recon Demolitionist
Mine every possible corpse in Caithe’s Reconnaissance Squad.

Much like “No Thanks to Canach”, but instead of ignoring the husk bodies, you need to interact with all the bodies you find on your path and plant every mine. You can use these to your advantage to kill the groups of enemies. There are 10 bodies in total which you can plant mines on.

Once you’ve planted all 10 mines this will unlock after placing the last one.

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Not Under my Commander
Complete Caithe’s Reconnaissance Squad without losing a soldier or ally.

This can be a little tricky, so I recommend bringing a full party with high damage. You will need to get through to Caithe and her squad. You need to reach the squad, then quickly remove the threat in the area. This is simple enough with high damage and a full party, but you need to be quick.

Doing this solo isn’t really recommend as it’s easier to fail due to the amount of enemies surrounding Caithe. Once you save them from the general assault, you then need to get them to the evac point. From here you then need to defend the point.

After defeating the waves of enemies, this will unlock when you extract from the area.

Hidden Arcana

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Strength Without Sacrifice.
Defeat the facet of strength without being stunned or grabbed.

This will be the first create you meet. He’s not overly tough, but he will stun and pull you around if you’re too far away, or happen to stand in his AoE attack circle. To avoid his pull attack using stability helps, though you will need to time it right. The easier method is to stand as close to him as possible and avoid any AoE attacks he may throw at you.

His stun on the other hand is very easy to avoid as a circular AoE will appear on the ground. So just dodge out the way if you happen to be in it.

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Better Red Than Dead
Defeat the facet of light without using blue or green attunements.

Once you enter this fight, you will need to attack the little minions that spawn. They will then give you an attunement buff which allows you to walk into either red, blue or green attunements to gain a shield. You will know which buff you have by the glow around your character.

Once you have a red glow, pick up the red attunement only, if you have any others, just ignore them and wait for the right buff. Once you collect the buff, head into the AoE circle and attack the facet. Repeat this until he dies.

Note: If you happen to make a mistake and miss out on this, there’s a challenge emote at the start of the area for you to reset the challenge.

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Exposed Weaknesses
Reduce the health or the facet of darkness from 75% to 0 in less than 10 seconds.

This may sound quite difficult at first, but there’s a very straight forward and easy method to reducing the health of the facet quickly.

You will need to use the fragile buff that you had to learn on your way to the boss. These buffs appear just after the facet does the large AoE ground attack. Run over to the fragile buff, and then allow one of the crystals to absorb it. You need to do this for all eight crystals, so make sure you don’t attack, or have any AoE ground attacks through traits. Buff all eight crystals with fragility.

Once you get to this stage, you can break all 8 and kill the facet within 15 seconds for the achievement. If you happen to make a mistake, but don’t lower his health before 75% you can still earn this in the same run.

Note: If you happen to make a mistake and miss out on this, there’s a challenge emote at the start of the area for you to reset the challenge.

Guild Wars 2 Echos of the Past Achievement Guide Exposed Weaknesses: Redux
Defeat the malevolent memory transferring any boons to vortex crystals.

This can be a bit of a nightmare if you gain boons through your weapons, armor or traits. So if you happen to have something setup to gain boons, change it, remove it or disable it before hand. This boss fight doesn’t require any major interaction with the malevolent it’s self, you damage it through the vortex crystals. So dodging will be your primary skill here.

As long as you’re not gaining boons, pick up the fragile buff, and apply it to the vortex crystals. Use them to damage the malevolent, and repeat until it dies. Just as before, you will need to use the skills you’ve learned from the previous three boss fights to win. So gain the attunement buff from the minions when they spawn if you need it to gain access to a crystal.

If you’re not sure what boons are, or what causes them, you can read up about them here.

Note: If you happen to make a mistake and miss out on this, there’s a challenge emote at the start of the area for you to reset the challenge.
