The Silverwastes

Author Notes

I highly recommend looking for a somewhat organized map as earning a lot of the achievements will be easier. The ones that will cause the most frustration are the randomly spawning legendary enemies, or the gold/silver champions.

 Red Rock Bastion

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Defender: Red Rock Bastion
Successfully defend Red Rock Bastion from the Mordrem after the Pact forces holding the fort have achieved level 3 defenses.

To earn these defender achievements you need to be in one of the forts while at defense level 3. You will know if you’re at this defense level as the icon for the fort will have a number level on it. You can also hover it to find out what the defense is at.

To increases the defenses of each fort, you need to make sure the supply escort reaches the fort you’re working to protect. One or two people can run these escorts, so there’s no need for everyone to pile on top of them. This is something that will usually happen without too much effort.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Copper
Defeat Champion Mordrem Husk Copper. Active during The Breach after Pact Assault Preparations has been fully completed.

Once you drop into the breach make your way to the husk. This boss is like any other husk in the game. The only difference is he spawns a rather large amount of mobs to protect himself. To defeat this boss with ease, keep moving and try not to attack the smaller enemies that spawn. If in doubt, take the high ground.

 Amber Sandfall

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Defender: Amber Sandfall
Successfully defend Amber Sandfall from the Mordrem after the Pact forces holding the fort have achieved level 3 defenses.

See “Defender: Red Rock Bastion”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Iron
Defeat Champion Mordrem Troll Iron. Active during The Breach after Pact Assault Preparations has been fully completed.

The Iron troll is a fairly simple boss, though he has a lot of AoE attacks. Out of all the bosses, Iron is the most straight forward with mechanics. Try to stay out of the AoEs, ranging this boss yields good results.

Blue Oasis

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Defender: Blue Oasis
Successfully defend Blue Oasis from the Mordrem after the Pact forces holding the fort have achieved level 3 defenses.

See “Defender: Red Rock Bastion”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Platinum
Defeat Champion Mordrem Thrasher Platinum. Active during The Breach after Pact Assault Preparations has been fully completed.

Platinum also have fairly simple mechanics. The only major difference here is that the boss teleports around underground area. The breach divided up into four different segments. As the boss teleports around, the map will have to chase it and break the Defiance Bar.

Indigo Cave

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Defender: Indigo Cave
Successfully defend Indigo Cave from the Mordrem after the Pact forces holding the fort have achieved level 3 defenses.

See “Defender: Red Rock Bastion”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Silver and Gold
Defeat Champion Mordrem Teragriff Silver and Champion Mordrem Teragriff Gold. Active during The Breach after Pact Assault Preparations has been fully completed.

Out of all the bosses, Silver and Gold are the most difficult. They’re not overly complicated, but there’s more to this fight than just attacking them like the others. The Teragriff will run around inside the circle breach area. If they meet, they will roar and kill everyone in near, so watch for their locations on the map.

To deal with these two bosses, players on the map will have to destroy the poison bubbles. If timed right, one of the bosses will run into the poison cloud and become stunned. This gives the map time to attack without being trampled.

This fight isn’t overly difficult, but it’s easy to get caught up in the wrong place and die quickly. This is the boss that most people have difficulty with, so be ready for things to go south quickly.

Note: you don’t have to kill both champions in one go. You can kill one, then come back for the other at another time. It’s almost impossible to kill both and get credit for them due to how they move around the space.

Legendary Champions

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide The Be-All and End-All
Slay the Legendary Mordrem Tormentor, Legendary Mordrem Executiner, Legendary Mordrem Demolisher, and Legendary Mordrem Annihilator. Appears rarely around Red Rock Bastion when controlled by the Pact.

During your fight in the Silverwastes, every so often a Legendary Champion will appear near one of the four forts. There’s no way to determine which ones will spawn, or when. You will need to kill each of these creatures to get “The Be-All and End-All”. But you will also need to kill each one for the achievement tied to each legendary creature.

They’re just like any other monster, so the usual zerg methods work. They don’t really do anything special, though they’re stronger than their general counterparts. These creatures will only spawn once the map has reached the highest defense level.

The following map details the spawn locations.

Misc

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Dive Master: Drydock Scratch
Find and use a diving location in Drydock Scratch.

This may seem fairly complex, but it’s one of the easier dive spots. Before you can reach this spot, you first need to make your way to the end of the jumping puzzle. Once there, follow the wall to the right of the reward chest to find a skritt tunnel. Enter the tunnel you will find yourself high above the Drydock.

Maneuver yourself around the boat on the way down, then carefully position yourself to land in the water far below in the cavern. There’s a ledge with some debris, so as long as you pass by this ledge somewhat centered you should land in the water without any issues.

Note: If you want to make this a little easier, I highly recommend paying 1 gold to use the skirtt tunnel to reach your last checkpoint. Doing so will put you back at the reward chest and allow you to jump again without worrying about having to run the puzzle again.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Retrospective Runaround
Complete the jumping puzzle.

This isn’t overly difficult, but you may want to set aside some time for your first run as it spans the length of the Silverwastes. The jumping puzzle starts at the SS Topsy-Turvy which is  accessible through the Picaroon Scratch area.

There are a serious of checkpoints that at scattered through the puzzle. If you happen to make a mistake, locate a skritt tunnel and pay 1 gold. This will allow you to teleport back to the last checkpoint you reached.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Ambassasdor’s Aid
Assist Ambassador Ikkhit’ch by defeating the skritt territory from the bandit raiders.

This event becomes active every so often, but you will need to enter Picaroon Scratch and defeat the bandits when the event is active. Doing so will open up the area allowing you to reach the ship in the underground.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Fear No Evil
Collect key fragments from the lesser nightmare pods, and unlock the greater nightmare pod while the Hidden Depths is dark.

After the Breach event has completed, a new area will open up in the South West of the Silverwastes. This area is a maze where you need to navigate past several enemies. There are pods that will transform you into a wisp. This will allow you to sneak past the patrolling enemies.

While you explore the maze you will find lesser nightmare pods which spawn randomly. Once opened you will be rewarded with several items, one which includes “Essences of Nightmare”. You will need to collect 25 of these items, which you can then combine with a Bandit Key. Once joined, you will earn a Greater Nightmare key which will open up the chest in the middle of the maze.

To access the center of the maze with your keys, collect the first pod. You will see another almost directly in front of you as you enter the maze. Grab the second and head straight up the large dirt path in front of you. The reward chest you’re looking for is located at the center of the maze at the top of the ramp. Alternatively you will earn keys from completing the map meta which will allow you to open this chest.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Mercantile Mercenary
Donate bandit crests to the mercenary requisitioner at Camp Resolve in the Silverwastes.

After completing events you will earn bandit crests. You will need to find the Requisitiorner in Camp Resolve, located near the way point. Donate crests to his cause and the achievement will unlock.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Go for the Gold
Find all the golden lost badges hidden throughout the Silverwastes.

Much like “Lost Badges”, but instead you’re looking for gold badges that appear in the Far Silverwastes and inside the jumping puzzle. If you’re after all 30 badges then prepare for a rather sadistic and difficult journey.

The following map details the locations of all the badges. All but 3 are located in the Far Silverwastes. There are 7 in the jumping puzzle starting area, the rest are within the puzzle its self. You will need to explore a fair amount to find these, but the difficulty isn’t finding them, but reaching them.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Lost Badges
Find all of the lost badges hidden throughout the Silverwastes.

In total there are 30 lost badges that you need to recover. Most are fairly obvious and just running around with “show all usable objects” turned on is enough to show their locations.

If you’re having difficulty finding these items you can use the map below.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Silverwastes Shoveler
Use a Silverwastes shovel to uncover a lost bandit chest in the Silverwastes.

As you complete events in the Silverwastes you will earn shovels. These items will allow you to dig up the various treasures buried throughout the map. Once you have a shovel, the next step is to get keys. You can either buy them from the vendors, or earn them through completing the map meta.

Once you’re ready, use a shovel, and skill 2 to find the nearest dig spot. You can dig up bandit chests once you find a mound to interact with. Activate your dig skill on the shovel, then open the bandit chest with your key.

Just keep in mind that if skill 2 doesn’t work, you’re not in range of any dig spots.

Vinewrath Boss

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Vinewrath Vanquisher
Defeat the Mordrem Vinewrath.

At first this may seem quite complex, but the overall fight takes a small amount of coordination and enough people to inflict damage to kill the Vinewrath Champions.

This is partly a defense activity where the three paths have to defend siege weapons as they make their way up to the Vinewraths enclosure. Each path will need to break  through into the arena and fight one of three champions. Defeating all three champions will cause the Vinewrath to fall resulting in victory.

The fight with each champion follows a similar pattern which consists of an attack phase, and a defense phase. The active lane will need to attack the champion, then use the area mechanics to avoid the beam the Vinewrath fills the area with.

Protecting your Siege

In order to start fighting one of the three bosses you need to escort your siege to the vinewall. If it’s your turn the wall well break open allowing you access. In this time you will need to fend off enemies so that your carrier isn’t destroyed. You’re given 15 carriers over the three lanes, so failure is easy to avoid as long as they’re protected.

Path 1 (Devourer/Beekeeper)

This fight is simple enough, though you need to dodge through the bee AoEs and lure the bees to honeycombs around the area. This will give you a defense from the Vinewrath beam.

Failure to build the honeycomb will result in players dying to the beam attack. Once the beam breaks the honeycomb, repeat collecting honey and kill the beekeeper.

Path 2 (Golem/Wrangler)

When you enter you will see pustules around the area, breaking them will give you a white AoE on the ground. Standing in the Aoe will allow you to avoid damage from the wranglers spin attack. It will also avoid large aoE circles from being spawned when too many pustules are destroyed by the wrangler.

The wrangler will make its way up to the boss which will then follow-up with a mesmerize attack. Before this happens, everyone needs to stand in the white AoE cone which appears in front of the Vinewrath.

The wrangler is reflectable, so players with reflects should use them. It will help with players who don’t know how to avoid the damaging effects of the spin attack.

Path 3 (Arboreal/Dark Wing)

Out of all three champions, this one is by far the easiest. The dark wing has very few attacks, and your main concern is that you break open the blossoms in the area. Jump on the open petals and then attack the boss. Repeat this for the fight to avoid the root floor attack. Players may be knocked off the blossoms, but they will have plenty of time to recover and re-position yourself to avoid being killed by the massive AoE attack.

Ammo Caches

Running ammo is something you will need to do at some point. As your siege wanders back and forth it will use up the ammo it has. When this happens you will see ammo spawn behind the ammo cache.  The devourer requires cannon balls, the golem requires air dropped shells, and the arboreal needs coconuts. You need to dig up the devourer ammo, and the arboreal requires you to dodge into trees to knock coconuts down. Once the cache has been refilled the carriers will start to move once again.

After defeating or failing a boss

Once you’ve gone up against the Vinewrath you will be issued with a boon called Tracked. This will stop you from entering the boss area until it expires. This effect will expire by the time your current lane needs to fight the boss a second time if needed.

The lanes will cycle so if lane 2 fails lane 3 will go up against the second champion. Same for lane 1 and lane 3. As long as there’s a good defense for the carriers the lanes can cycle multiple times. To fully fail this boss all 15 carriers will need to be destroyed.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Dark Wing Defoliator
Defeat the Mordrem Vinewrath’s champion, the Mordrem Dark Wing.

See ” Vinewrath Vanquisher”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Jump Up to Get Down
Use plant debris to avoid taking damage from the Mordrem Vinewrath’s uproot attack while fighting the Mordrem Dark Wing.

During the Dark Wing fight you will see blossoms in the surrounding area. Attacking these blossoms will cause the flower to open creating a platform to stand on. Once the champion is damaged enough it will retreat to the Vinewrath. If you’re standing on these open flowers you will avoid the uproot attack that fills the area.

Repeat this throughout the fight to avoid being killed or injured by this attack.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Mangler Wrangler
Defeat the Mordrem Vinewrath’s champion, the Mordrem Mangler.

See ” Vinewrath Vanquisher”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Don’t Look Now
Stand in the correct location to avoid being mesmerized by the Mordrem Vinewrath while fighting the Moredrem Mangler.

Once this fight starts, attack the Mangler until it retreats to the Vinewrath. Once it is in front of the Vinewrath a large white AoE will spawn. Stand inside the white triangle to gain protected from the beam attack.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Beekeeper Crusher
Defeat the Mordrem Vinewrath’s champion, the Mordrem Beekeeper.

See ” Vinewrath Vanquisher”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Covered in Bees!
Use a honeycomb to avoid taking damage from the Mordrem Vinewrath’s beam while fighting the Mordrem Beekeeper.

While fighting the Beekeeper, you will need to roll through the large AoE surrounded by bees. This will cause the bees to target and follow your character. Once targeted you will then need to make your way over to a honeycomb marked on several locations

This will cause the bees to build a honeycomb wall to protect you from the beam attack. You only need to do this once, but it’s a vital part of survival in this fight, so you will repeat it multiple times until the boss dies.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Devourer Protector
Defend the devourer siege carrier during the assault on the Mordrem Vinewrath.

Once the meta ends and the Vinwrath both spawns, there will be three lanes. Each lane has its own siege carrier that needs to be defended. The defense is simple enough, players need to group up and follow the carrier as it makes the journey to each vine blocking the path.

You can each of the required achievements within one meta event, though it is easier to do it over multiple instances.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Arboreal Protector
Defend the arboreal siege carrier during the assault on the Mordrem Vinewrath.

See “Devourer Protector”.

Guild Wars 2 The Silverwastes Achievement Guide Golem Protector
Defend the golem siege carrier during the assault on the Mordrem Vinewrath.
