This set of achievements require you to first complete the story. From there you may have to replay chapters several times to complete all the achievements tied to that chapter. There are also several bugs and situations that are a little touchy.

Prized Possessions

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Deathless Escape
While being pursued by the Mordrem beast, do not die.

As you start this keep in mind that if you the beast catches you, you’re pretty much done for. You will die instantly, so you will want to stay as far ahead of the creature as possible to avoid death.

There are various AoE traps and hazards on the way, so running this at least once to know what’s coming and where to go will aid you greatly.

While following Ruka, try to keep up or ahead of him. Doing so will reduce the gap between yourself and the beast chasing you. You will need to use the Dragon Wing (Jump), Dragon Surge (Dash) and Dragon’s Pounce (Leap) skills to traverse the areas. If you’re having a hard time doing this without taking damage use the blue orbs as a marker of safe traversal.

Note: This may be a possible bug, but taking damage from the pustules and fall damage while completing this run didn’t void this achievement for me.

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Flawless Escape
While being pursued by the Moredem beast, avoid taking any hit.

You can earn this while working towards “Deathless Escape”. Just be sure to take no damage from various AoE on your way through the path.

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Wild Dragon Chase
While being pursued by the Mordrem beat, find and retrieve all 23 Echos of Glint.

I highly recommend attempting this after doing “Flawless Escape” and “Deathless Escape” as it will need a little more focus on the objects themselves. They’re very easy to see, but a few hidden in odd places. Most of this fight you will have the beast chasing you, but there’s a few break points where you’re able to stand around and take your time. You can also backtrack and pick up orbs you may have missed.

Note: You don’t need to get all 23 orbs in one go. It’s possible to die and checkpoint if you happen to miss any. This makes the task of collecting these orbs a lot easier. Also if you happen to progress past where each beast spawns, you can backtrack to the previous areas without it being there.

First Room (8 Orbs)

All the orbs in this room are in plain sight, though just before you exit higher up, look above to the left of the exit.

First Hallway (2 Orbs)

As the beast bursts through the wall, you will see an orb straight ahead above you, and right behind where the beast appears from.

Second room (5 Orbs)

You will see on orb on the side you have to jump cross, one next to Ruka, one above Ruka and the 4th in the middle of the room which requires gliding to. The 5th orb is just before the vine wall when you will meet the beast for a second time.

Pustule Hallway (5 Orbs)

You will only be able to see one of these orbs from the ground, which is above the second pustule in the hallway. You will need to jump up to get this orb, then turn around and jump across to the second. From here the next two orbs are above you, follow the path around the top, and jump down/glide to the 5th.

Third Room (2 Orbs)

As you enter the room, you should see the orb ahead of you on a rock. Once here, turn around leap to a ledge behind you across from where you entered.

Final Room (1 Orb)

The last room can be a little hit and miss. There’s two ways to get this orb, one is to jump up then glide and use the speed glide. The alternative is to use the ledges to your left as a vantage point. If you can reach this area you will have a clear shot at the orb.

City of Hope

Complete the trial of strength with no deaths.

This will be your first trial. Doing this solo is quite straight forward, though keep in mind that if you’re playing in a party more enemies will spawn. In this trial you will need to kill several different enemy times, most are simple enough, though if you’re a squishy build you may have some trouble. If this is the case, any sort of immobilize, slow, chill and crowd control skills will come in handy.

After you kill the first enemy, brine pools will form on the floor. You will want to stay clear of these AoEs as they will knock you over. This could leave you in a somewhat compromised position if you’re attacking an enemy.

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide No More Time
Complete the trial of wits without gaining any bonus time.

After entering this room, a maze will raise from the floor. This trial is simple enough, reach the three points and activate them. While looking at the maze, there is one point to your right as you enter, and the other two are in the far left and right corners of the room.

Start out by heading right as you enter and over to the corner where you will find the first button. Head up the stairs behind you and fly across the maze and land on top of the center walls. From here head either left or right.

After obtaining the next button, you will have to run back through the maze to the start, climb the stairs on either side and repeat your previous action to reach the other button.

Complete the teamwork trial without reviving any Pact Soldiers.

This can be a little tricky solo, and very time-consuming, so I highly recommend you bring a party with you.

See “Predatory Prey”

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Predatory Prey
Defeat all enemies in the teamwork trial.

Before you attempt this, I highly recommend you bring at least one other person. Your goal here is to defeat all the Mordrem wolves before killing the alpha. This is very tedious, and the more people you have the easier this will become. Once you enter this room you will be transformed into a rabbit, and so will your party. From here you have a set of skills to take advantage of, you can also take advantage of the various resources in the area such as mushrooms.

If you’re doing this with a party, focus each wolf on its own instead of gathering them all up due to the low amount of damage you do. This can be a little tricky, but it’s possible if you take your time. The more party members you have, the easier this will be.

Note that if you want to earn “Leave It to Me”, do not revive the Pact Soldiers in the room. If you’re after “Predatory Prey” only, then reviving the Pact Soldiers to help is an option you can take.

Strange Observations

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Avoid Traps
Find Taimi without stepping on any Mordrem traps.

Once you start the instance, you will need to avoid two ground AoE traps on the way into the area. These are fairly simple to avoid, even though they use a random pattern, it’s quite easy to split by them. Just watch where they fall and work your way around.

Note: This is currently bugged. You can still earn the achievement by backtracking from Taimi and taking damage from the closest set of traps. Once re-entering the room with her this will unlock.

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Mordremoth Usurper
Usurp the Mordremoth controllers’ positions and use their power to kill Mordrem Wolves.

After crossing all the traps, you will see two Mordrem guards standing on platforms either side of the doorway. To earn this you need to remove the Mordrem by killing them. This is easier said than done as the wolves chasing you around deal high damage. I’ve found that killing one guard after knocking them off the platform to be the best way around this. Killing them on the platform may very well void this achievement.

If you’re quick you can fear the guards off the platforms, and jump on yourself. From here you just need to use skill 1 and kill the wolves. I highly suggest you do one platform at a time.

Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns Act 2 Achievement Guide Mushroom Conservationist
Help Taimi collect saurian bones without using more than 4 mushrooms.

Once you meet up with Taimi, she will ask you to collect saurian bones, which requires you to kill use the mushrooms in the area to lure out creatures and kill them. You need to use 4 mushrooms to get four bones. This is a simple enough task, and there doesn’t appear to be way to make a mistake.

If you happen to throw down a mushroom at one of the holes, but nothing appears. Pick it up and throw it down again at another hole. As long as you only pick up and use one mushroom at a time shouldn’t be a problem.

Note: Once you throw down the 4th mushroom, it’s possible the achievement icon may vanish from your boon bar. If this happens, just place the last bone and it should still unlock.
