Golden Axe (Arcade)

Utter Obliteration Utter Obliteration
Hit an enemy with magic after knocking him into the air in Golden Axe.

Attack ( :a: ) the enemy until you knock him into the air, once you see this happening press :x: , and you will do a magic attack on him (and any other enemies that are within the area), you can do magic so long as you have at least one potion stocked in your Magic Bar.

Temporary Partners Temporary Partners
Cleared a stage while riding a creature in Golden Axe.

This is easy to do on the first two stages, I got it on the first stage by being careful not to get hit (if you get hit a lot, eventually the creature will run away), this is really easy on the first and second stages as you will come across creatures that are located near the end of the stages, you have to knock off any enemy that is on them first though, then hurry over to them, then just be careful from being attacked, if you want this made easier, use the second stage as you have a dragon that can breathe fire than just a simple tail whip, and you have no “big” boss enemies to worry about.

Tamer of the Wilds Tamer of the Wilds
Rode every type of creature in Golden Axe.

This is for riding on every type of creature in Golden Axe, to be able to ride the creature first, you’ll have to knock the enemy off it, then rush over to it before another enemy starts riding it, if you don’t get over to it as soon as you can, chances are it will run away before you’re able to mount it.

  • Cockatrice
  • Blue Dragon
  • Red Dragon

These are the three type of creatures you will find in this game and the achievement will unlock once you mount the last one.

I summon thee, Dragonhead! I summon thee, Dragonhead!
Used Tyris’s strongest magic in Golden Axe.

Select Tyris (she is the female character), now start playing the game, avoid using Magic until you have enough for the Level 6 magic, you can collect potions from the blue gnomes, they can sometimes carry about 2 magic, they try to keep away from you, try to make sure to get them before they get away, there is also bonus levels at the end of each Stage where you will have a couple of these gnomes running about, just don’t be slow, they will try to get away, if all of them get away, that is your chance over and possibly missing two potions than what you have as you will sometimes have potions sitting out, the gnomes will come and snatch them, in order to get them back, you must attack that gnome.

Golden Axe II

Come forth, King of Fire! Come forth, King of Fire!
Used Tyris’s strongest magic in Golden Axe II.

This is for using Tyris’s strongest magic in Golden Axe II, you must hold (find out what button is magic) until it goes all the way up to 6, you will need to have required the amount of pick ups for this magic, it can be found in the Magic enemies, when you defeat them, they drop a Magic Book for you to pick up.

Master of Beasts Master of Beasts
Rode every type of creature in Golden Axe II.

This is for riding each type of creature in Golden Axe II.

  • Cockatrice
  • Green Dragon
  • Red Dragon

Once you have ridden each of those, this achievement will unlock, make sure when you see them to mount them as soon as you knock the enemy off of them, or else they will run away.

 Coliseum Champion
Clear THE DUEL in Golden Axe II.

The Duel is an extra mode in Golden Axe II where you will go through 15 rounds of enemies, it starts off very easy and eventually gets harder, you can choose whoever you want, you will be given a health bar which will act like a health bar would do in Survival Modes in fighting games, it will carry on and this will be the health it expects you to clear all 15 battles with, you cannot use magic here, which means Gilius (dwarf) will be your best choice for this mode, due to that character being best with combat.

Make sure to make use of the save system (make separate saves, so if you have to go back to a certain point to do better, you can), even if you don’t die during any round, if you think you could have completed that round without being hit, or getting hit less than you did, then load up your save and try again, health is essential in this mode, the more health you have in the later rounds mean they will be a lot easier.

The only battle I found difficult was Battle 15 where you are up against two headless pink knights, the best method here is to go up to the one on your left, and jump ( :b: ) and attack ( :a: ), the next one will probably attack you when you attempt to do this on him, but do it anyways, you need them to be down at roughly the same time so this will work, if successful, the first one will be getting back up, as soon as it does, do the jump attack, keep this up, and make sure to stay in rhythm when doing this.

For Minotaurs, you are just doing the same thing really, you start with any of them, do a jump attack on it, stay near the fallen, and do a jump attack on the other, the fallen will get up, quickly do a jump attack on him and then the one that you attacked before should be a bit further away, it’ll come charging at you, before it can attack, quickly do a jump attack on it.

Useful Attacks:

  • Jump Attack: Press :b: to jump and then press :a: while jumping to attack in midair.
  • Special Attack: Press :a: + :b: together, this will result in an attack where you will hit any incoming enemies from either side, this is useful for Battles 11 and 14.

If an enemy comes in on a creature, get on it as soon as you can, there will be one that comes in a red dragon, make sure to opt for it as it has a stronger attack than the other creature.
Try and not lose any health up til Battle 8, but try to be at least 5 health by the end, or more even.

Golden Axe III

Pacifier of Creatures Pacifier of Creatures
Rode every type of creature in Golden Axe III.

Just like the previous games, you must ride every type of creature in this game as well.

  • Blue Slug
  • Green Slug
  • Red Dragon
  • Green Dragon

Once you have ridden each of those, this achievement will unlock, make sure when you see them to mount them as soon as you knock the enemy off of them, or else they will run away.

Golden Axe Forever Golden Axe Forever
Get the true ending in Golden Axe III.

To achieve true ending in Golden Axe III, you must:

  • Clear the game with a grade B or higher.
  • Clear the game without using a continue, you can use lives though, but remember, you only have three of these and then it will hit the continue screen.

Unfortunately this game only comes equip with Normal and Hard settings, even if there was an Easy setting, knowing this series, it would have only took you so far, it will be best to attempt this in Normal settings.

You will need to get used to saving and reloading during this, if you take too much damage, or if you think you could have got past that area without taking any, then reload, it’s also perfect to use against bosses as you can save before them, learn their patterns, load up your save again and defeat them with barely any damage or without any hits, so just get used to saving as much as possible and even if you don’t die during a battle you should reload again just to see if you can do it better, keeping health and lives is essential for this play-through.

A good character to use is the Black Panther Man, he has this move where he is invulnerable during it, it’s like a leap that deals great damage to enemies, and while leaping they can’t attack you, although be careful using this move, if you use it where there is holes near by, or for example while riding on the cartage and you fall off, you will have a great deal of health took off of you, so it’s best to sometimes just do your normal attack or press :a: + :b: to do a Special Attack.

Leap: :dpr: :dpl: :dpr: :a: + :b:

If done successfully, after defeating Death Adder at the end of the game, you will fight him again, in this version of him, you can go towards using all the continues you want (be careful as you are limited to them), after that is done, you can enjoy the True Ending and unlock this achievement.

If you do not like that tip, then I recommend the barbarian since he has the best reach for attacks, make sure to save any magic you pick up for bosses.

Note: Continues can be used, but dying effects your overall grade so try to not use them anyway.

You do not need to do this for Wielder of the Axe, completing the game is good enough for that.

This One Stands Alone This One Stands Alone
Cleared VS MODE in Golden Axe III.

VS Mode is a sort of based off a fighting game using the characters from Golden Axe III, this is easy enough, just note, if you lose you will have to start over again, but the good thing is that you can save whenever you want, so I would save after every battle won, and that means that’s most of your worries gone about this mode, the only opponent I found difficult was the cave man character, so I decided to use the cave man character as well, and spammed his :a: + :b: attack, for fighting against the cave man himself, I did this trick where you got him exactly behind your character, and kept using the :a: + :b: attack, this meant he could basically do nothing, if he manages to escape, just get it to happen again, the other characters didn’t require as much of a strategy, I just spammed the :a: + :b: attack and most were defenseless to it.

You have to fight all characters, including the one you selected.

Misc.

Law of Gravitation Law of Gravitation
Knocked an enemy into a hole in every game.

This is for knocking an enemy into the hole in each game of the collection, this should happen eventually throughout all of the games, you’ll see areas that are falls and you can fall through them too, if you want more luck in having an enemy fall into them, get them to the edge and start attacking, if they fall when they remain alive, this should count towards the achievement.

Note: This unlocked as soon as I started Golden Axe II (started playing the actual game), this was after playing through Golden Axe (Arcade) and Golden Axe III, so I never knocked an enemy into a hole in the second one, this might be the same way it unlocks for you.

 Wielder of the Axe
Clear every game.

This is for clearing every game, here is a few important points to have this achievement successfully unlock for you.

  • Golden Axe (Arcade) must be done in either Normal or Custom (can be done in Hard as well), but it can’t be done in Easy settings as this only lets you progress so far in the game, it is the Arcade port however, so you basically have infinite lives and you can keep adding credits by pressing .
  • Golden Axe II must be done in Normal or higher, it cannot be completed in Easy settings as this only lets you progress so far in the game, you can save anywhere you want by pressing and go to Save Game, so if you mess up anywhere, you can load up your game and try again, you can also use the level select cheat which you can have it take you directly to the final boss and you can trick the game so you can play it on Easy settings.
Level Select Cheat: On the Main Menu, highlighting Options, hold :x: , :a: , and :b: at the same time, once in Options, release :a: and :b: , now, only using the :a: button to select with, once done with options, select 1 player mode, and then story, choose anyone you want, this is still holding the :x: , you should land up in a screen with a number in the center, scroll through the numbers until you reach 7 and press :start: , note, you will have to play through the game to obtain Master of Beasts.
  • Golden Axe III only has Normal or Hard settings, Normal is good enough and like Golden Axe II, you can also save wherever you want.
