Summary:
Zuma's Revenge is the sequel to Zuma, it's a puzzle game, it's easy to learn but hard to master, Zuma's Revenge comes with the newly added Boss Fights and Spirit Animals, as well as the much more improved controls, it's overall much better than the last Zuma and with the controls actually manageable this time round, it's more of an easier completion, although, not too easy, you will still need to practice and have patience for the last couple of achievements.

Adventure Mode

Jaw Breaker Jaw Breaker
Defeat the Gluttonous Kahtiki Khan

This is the first boss of the game and you fight him on level 1-11, he isn’t that hard, it’s just basic, hit a row of balls, and then through the gap, shoot him, if you are quick enough, you can get a couple of shoots in, so nothing too hard here, make sure to dodge the attacks he throws at you, this goes for all bosses.

Tiki Trampler Tiki Trampler
Defeat Maga Maga and his Tiki Minions

This boss appears on level 2-11.  To be able to attack this boss, you need to first destroy his Tiki Minions, you do this by shooting a row of balls and then shooting them through the gap, once that is done, you can now hit the boss, you get to do two hits on him before he summons his Tiki Minions again and renews his shields.

Bone Picker Bone Picker
Defeat Baron Digo and his Skeleton Crew

You’ll come up to this boss on level 3-11, can hit this boss whenever you want, but what you really want to hit is his Skeleton Crew, they come across the screen and some carry a power up with them, with this power up, you can hit the boss through the rows and deal greater damage than you would with just shooting at him, this battle will be over quickly if you use this strategy.

Pestilence Pacifier Pestilence Pacifier
Defeat Kolo Kamari and his Swarm of Bugs

You’ll fight this boss on level 4-11, you can’t shoot at this boss directly as he’ll just eat the balls you shoot at him, so you are going to have to aim at the rows with an explosion power in them, as soon as you attack these rows, the explosion will go off, this boss eventually starts to move about the level, but there is only three possible places that he can go to.

Cephalopod Smasher Cephalopod Smasher
Defeat Cephalo Ka and his Inky Ink Attack

This boss is on level 5-11, he is really easy, his only attack is ink attack, which just makes a bit of the screen covered, but this is only a small bit, it doesn’t actually affect game play too much, again, this boss is similar to the last where you have to hit rows with the explosion powers in them when he is near them, this will drop his shield and deal some damage, you can also hit him by shooting when you get the chance.

You Win! You Win!
You didn’t think it would be that easy would you?

This unlocks as you defeat the sixth boss, it’s a bit of a make fun achievement in case you’re wondering what this was for.

The first part involves having some luck, you can complete this level really quickly if you are given the right color of balls, first you want to get rid of the top right flame and the bottom left flame, the reason why you want to get rid of these two so fast is because they’ll eventually become harder to get to, you need the right color of balls, so say if you have the right color for the top right one, hit the row of balls, then shoot another one quickly in the direction of the flame to put it out, then move to the left one and hit a row of balls there and do the same with that flame, these are the hardest two, so if you get them, you’ll be able to get the next two easily, I just repeatedly restarted the level until I got lucky and managed to complete it in 14 seconds.

The next part is really easy, all you have to do, is hit a row of balls, then shoot the boss once, and that’s it, you’ve defeated this boss and unlocked the achievement, the first part is the only really hard thing about this boss.

Time for Tadpoles! Time for Tadpoles!
Defeat Zhaka Mu and discover the secret of the island!

This is the final boss, he appears right after the sixth boss, he has three forms and they are all similar.

The first form is easy enough, he will have other enemies along with him, but these are easily avoided, this one can be defeated really fast, all it is, is shooting rows and then shooting him through the gap.

The second form is even easier, it moves faster though, but the other enemies have been removed so you have less to dodge now, again, it’s simply shooting rows and then shooting him through the gaps to deal damage.

The third and final form is the mirror image of your frog, and I didn’t find this at all hard, it only moves when you move, you’ll always get lined up with it in the middle, so shoot a row there and then shoot him, if you are quick enough, you can do a few shoots on him, so the last boss isn’t that hard, none of the bosses are in this game (they are actually the easiest thing in the game), once you have defeated this boss, you have completed Adventure Mode and you’ll unlock Boss Rush Mode (Amphibian Assassin).

Spirit Animals

Spiritual Awakening Spiritual Awakening
Discover the Spirit Monkey

You’ll unlock the Spirit Monkey once you complete the first level, when you beat it, it tells you to press :x: to enter the Spirit Animals menu, this achievement unlocks for simply discovering it.

One with Nature One with Nature
Fully level up one Spirit Animal

The max level for one Spirit Animal is level 10, this will require 45 Spirit Badges, you can upgrade whichever you wish, when you unlock better Spirit Animals, you can lower the one you don’t think that helps much and use the Spirit Badges on the helpful one instead, you will need to upgrade all four for Beast Master though, but while others are more important, use them until you have enough for all the animals.

Nature’s Friend Nature’s Friend
Fully level up two Spirit Animals

You will need 90 Spirit Badges for this, see Beast Master for more information, you should be able to get 90 through a play-through of Adventure Mode though, and it needs to be two maxed at once, so you can’t use lower on one maxed one and max out another, it needs to be two at the same time.

Beast Master
Unleash your full froggy potential by fully leveling up all four Spirit Animals!

This requires a total of 180 Spirit Badges, you’ll need to get that out of a possible 189 in Adventure Mode, they are unlocked by completing the level and matching the score and time requirements, this isn’t going to be easy as some of the time requirements in later stages are completely unfair, and you need to at least complete a certain amount of these, so this is going to be luck based if anything, I always found the lightning power up good as it allows you to destroy all of one color on the field, if you plan carefully, this could involve getting a load of chain reactions, making the stage go past really quickly, same with bombs and spread shots, if you get the hold of one of these power ups, make sure to always aim for another power up, when you have the laser power up, make sure to hit reverse and multiplier power ups, on your fourth and last shot with this, aim for a spread shot, bomb or lighting power up if possible.  Having the Spirit Rabbit all the way up to Level 10 is essential for this as it increases appearances of power ups by 50%.  If you don’t have enough Spirit Badges for this, you can lower another Spirit Animal, I would lower the Spirit Monkey as he only increases fruit score and appearances.

As for Score requirements, these aren’t too bad, but to increase your chances of having better scores, you’ll unlock the Spirit Hawk, which increases your score after you complete the level.

You can do all of these in different play-throughs of the level, so you don’t have to earn all three at once.

Bosses also have Spirit Badges, these are time requirements, and they aren’t that hard, if you didn’t get them your first time, this is because you were figuring out the bosses, but they are really easy requirements, so try again once you know how to defeat them and you’ll be able to get all the Spirit Badges from bosses easily.

Boss Rush Mode

Amphibian Assassin Amphibian Assassin
Complete Boss Rush Mode without losing

Boss Rush Mode is unlocked by completing Adventure Mode, and it’s really easy to complete since you have previous experience defeating all of the bosses, if you by any chance lose, that’s just really unlucky, the bosses are really easy and you don’t even have the frustrating/luck based part to complete on the sixth boss, that boss is just the one that only requires one hit, see the guides in Adventure Mode if there is any bosses you have struggled on, there is strategies for each of them there.  At most, this should only take you ten minutes, it’s a really fast easy achievement.

Iron Frog Mode

Fe Frog
Complete Iron Frog Mode

Iron Frog Mode unlocks once you defeat the boss on Level 4-11, this mode is hard, it is based on skill and luck and is the reason why this game has a 8/10 in difficulty, without this, the game would only be 5/10 at most.

Iron Frog Mode is a survival mode, which you’ll go through 10 levels, you cannot die, it’s based off skill as some levels can be rather tough, there is nothing here though that you haven’t seen in Adventure Mode already, take the advice given in Beast Master when it comes to using power ups, you do not want to waste these when you get the chance!  It is also based off luck as sometimes you can go on a level and be killed off very fast just because you started off with the wrong color or were having rather bad luck with power ups, I recommend having the Spirit Rabbit maxed for this.

I would leave this til last, as doing Beast Master will be rather good practice for this mode.  You will have unlucky moments, but nothing much can be said about these, just keep trying.

Many players may eventually give up with this, it is something you’ll need to master the game for, anyways, good luck with this if you are up for the challenge!

Misc.

Thread the Needle Thread the Needle
Make a match by shooting a ball through a gap in the curve

To do this, you need to make a gap first, so you have to shoot a row of balls, and then hopefully a row behind that will be a color of ball that you have available to use at the moment, there is plenty of chances to get this during the game, so I won’t be too worried if you can’t get this on the first level.

C-C-C-Chain Bonus! C-C-C-Chain Bonus!
Shoot 15 balls and make 15 matches… in a row!

This is for shooting 15 balls and keeping getting matches, what it means by matches, is hitting a row of 2 or more balls with a ball of the same color, therefore destroying them, you need to do this 15 times in a row, it might be hard to do in the earlier levels (since they are short), but you’ll most certainly get this during later ones.

Power Player Power Player
Build your score multiplier up to 5x

You’ll encounter special balls with things like 2x on them, hit them and your score will be 2x, each time one of these appears, it would have increased, you just have to hit four of these in one level, and as soon as you hit the one with 5x on it, you’ll unlock this achievement.

Hoarder Hoarder
Earn all three Spirit Badges on at least 10 levels

At the end of each level (excluding Boss Battles, they only have one), you’ll unlock Spirit Badges for the following areas:

  • Complete the level.
  • Score
  • Time

You’ll earn the first one automatically, however Score and Time has requirements, during the early levels, this shouldn’t come as much of a problem, and you should definitely be able to get 10 levels done like this from just playing Adventure Mode.

Boss Battles won’t count for this as they only unlock one Spirit Badge which is based on time.

Frog Statue Frog Statue
Beat a lily pad level without jumping lily pads

This is bit hard and based off luck, 2-3 is the first level you will encounter one of these, you will have to jump at the start, but you can press :back: or exit the level and re-enter and you won’t have to jump again, just don’t press :x: during the entire level, you might want to have more upgrades on your Spirit Animals for this, preferably the Spirit Rabbit as once it’s Level 10, it increases your chances of special power appearances by 50%, although, this is definitely easy without that, I manage to do this as my first time completing the level whereas I didn’t have much upgrades at all.

Frozen Frog Frozen Frog
Beat a regular rail level without moving the frog

This is a bit hard and based off luck, so I recommend using Level 1-5 for this as that is the first level you encounter one of these types.  All you have to do is make sure not to move the frog.  It may take a few tries as I had got close sometimes, but two of the balls had went out of my range and were headed into the mouth, this is all about combos, if you want, you don’t have to do this right at the start, you can wait until you have more upgrades on your Spirit Animals, preferably the Spirit Rabbit as once it’s Level 10, it increases your chances of special power appearances by 50%.

This has to be done on a regular rail level, boss battles do not count for this!

Weekly Challenges (Online)

Challenge Accepted Challenge Accepted
Play five different weekly challenges

Weekly Challenges are unlocked once you defeat the boss on Level 2-11 (Tiki Trampler), these challenges are levels from Adventure Mode, in a way, these aren’t even a challenge but more of a competitive leaderboard type system, they are updated each Sunday.  Just make sure to catch them every week if you want this as soon as possible, complete the levels just to be safe, you have plenty of time to do so and if you completed Adventure Mode, this shouldn’t come as a problem for you.

Cephalo Ka is on level 26 I believe.. but to beat him, you need to aim for the explosive gems, while he is near them and break one of his guards, do it again 3 times, or only 2 times if you think you can get an attack on him without needing to break all the guards.
