A Bug in the System

Author Notes

This guide is a work in progress.

Races are currently buggy and do not register your placement. You may have to repeat races several times to earn the achievements tied to them. There does seem to be a lot of issues with events not resetting properly, along with bounties not spawning.

Tracking the Scientist

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideI Make This Golem Look Good
Remain undetected while infiltrating the Inquest facility inside a golem.

As you progress Taimi will give you a set of skills, one to disrupt the consoles. And another to stealth yourself. Take your time and carefully move between the drones.

There are several areas where you will need to use the stealth ability to let a drone pass by. There are a couple of tricky areas, but as long as you allow the drones to move away before disrupting the consoles this shouldn’t be a problem.

To answer the puzzle at the end of the instance,  manipulate the buttons until you have the following sequences:

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideGate-Crasher
Reach the tracking network hub quickly without provoking the inquest.

You can do this at the same time as “I Make This Golem Look Good”, just make sure that you reach the end before the 5 minute timer runs out. There are a series of correct consoles that you need to hit to progress quickly.

I suggest you go through this at least once to learn which consoles unlock the gates. That way during the speed run you can hit them quickly and move on without wasting time.

You can also use the console disruption skill while moving. This will help shave off a few seconds of waiting around.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideTalk to the Fist
Be combative during questioning by the inquest guards

After entering the facility ignore all your instincts to stay hidden. Take your golem and run up to any of the drones. You will be given a series of dialog options to pick from. You’re looking for “Attack” as an option. Once selected this will unlock.

You may have to repeat this several times to get the correct dialog option.

The Test Subject

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideDrones Disabled
Disable the drones in lab Sigma-05

At the start of the lab you will see a console on your left. Interact with it and select the only option it offers you. Set “password” as the password. Once you’ve done this, you need to navigate through the drones to a second console. This console is located next to the object console.

Interacting with it will give you an option to disable the drones in the area. Take your time and watch the drone movement through the window to the right of the area. If you make a mistake you will have to start over.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideInquest-Specimen Liberator
Release the healthy control specimens from the lab Sigma-05

After reaching the second floor of the lab, you’re given the choice to release the various control captives. Interact with the consoles and release each subject listed below.

Release the following captives:

  • Moa
  • Choya
  • Rock Gazelle
  • Karka

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideInquest Redundancies
Defeat all the inquest in the lab Sigma-05

Throughout the facility you will find inquest, some are hostile, while as others are not. You need to kill all the Inquest you come in contact with. The achievement will unlock before leaving the facility.

A Kindness Repaid

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideCabbage Shredder
Arbitrarily ruin a perfectly good vegetable crop.

The vegetable patch is just outside the village. Run through it while mounted and the achievement will unlock. You will pass this area while following the NPC to the main village.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideImpressionable Youth
Convince the cubs about the way they can best help their village.

After speaking with the cubs, they will spawn a Sand effigy during the encounter. To earn the achievement avoid the AoE attacks and kill the Effigy. These attacks are fairly easy to avoid, but you may want to take a ranged approach if you’re having difficulty.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideX-T3R-M1N-8
Defeat the Mark II Beta Exterminator Golem in under three minutes.

At the end of the instance you will fight a golem. As soon as the fight starts, you have three minutes to defeat it to earn this achievement.

The trick with this golem is to disrupt the shield. To do this you need to defeat the small golems that drop ley energy. Use that energy to strip the shield, then process to destroy the core once it’s outside the golems body.

High burst damage works well against the smaller enemies. If you’re having difficulty bring a friend to speed up the process.

The Charge

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideInquest.info
Find all the Inquest secrets.

Throughout the instance there are seven Confidential Documents to collect. They’re fairly easy to find, just make sure you have ‘usable object names’ enabled.

  • Starting area (4)
  • Tunnels (2)
  • Final Room (1)

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideSaving Skritt
Find the test subject in the poisonous corridor and return him tot he airship.

After leaving the airship, head north towards Tunnel Access Beta. Drop down towards the core and look for an opening on the north-western side. You should see a network of pipes and a tunnel that heads down.

Follow the tunnel and you will find the skritt at the end. Speak with the escaped test subject and tell them you can carry them out on your mount.

From here climb out of the hole using the springer and return to the airship. Once you touch the airship deck the achievement will unlock.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideAwake End
Stop Commander Lonai from killing and Awakening any of the citizens of Divinity’s Reach

Once you’re teleported to Divinity’s Reach, stop the molten boulders from consuming the citizens. After they spawn, quickly focus them and ignore Lonai. Once destroyed, resume damaging the boss.

Sandswept Isles

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideThe Specimen Chamber
Defeat each champion simulacrum in the specimen chamber at least once.

There are a serious of events that take place on the main island around Rata Primus. This will lead up to the meta for The Specimen Chamber. After the events are complete, portals will appear that take you up to the main chamber area.

Once you have access to the chamber, you will need to kill six different specimens. After entering the chamber, the doors will lock, so make sure you get there in time. Once inside two random champions will spawn that you need to kill.

You will need to repeat this event multiple times to earn progress towards this achievement.

Kill the following specimens to earn the achievement:

  • Jord Ironfrost
  • Beyn, Scion of Thorns
  • Destroyer Crematus
  • Tlati, the Unchained
  • Varkesh, the Branded
  • Subject Beta

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideHonorary Olmakhan
Defeat each of the prestige hunting targets in the hunting grounds.

Around the base of The Hunting Ground you will find several high priority targets. You won’t know if they are active unless you look for them. They are fairly obvious when active as they have unique names that relate to the achievement.

These enemies are tough but they are fairly easy to kill. They spawn in roughly the same locations every time so you can use the map below to find their locations

Kill the following targets to earn this achievement:

  • Tufani
  • Llani
  • Skaa
  • Ubaya
  • Feesi
Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideStormbreak
Defeat the champion djinn in a cavern beneath the ruined paths.

This meta event takes place on the northern island. A series of storms will appear across the island. Clearing the storms will then start an escort event that leads to a specimen chamber in The Ruined Paths.

After completing the escort Zohaqan will spawn. The achievement will unlock after killing this powerful Djinn.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideThe Queen and I
Slay the champion beetle queen near Driftwood Jetty.

Just east of Atholma you will find the ranch Malor’s Ranch. You will find an event here that requires you to defend the livestock. After the event is complete, a queen beetle will spawn near Driftwood Jetty in The Ruined Paths.

Kill this champion to earn the achievement.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideWyvern Whacker
Slay the champion Branded wyvern outside the Western Complex.

In Griffonstone Buttress you will find an NPC called Agent Kashud. She can be found riding a springer mount on a platform high up in the area. After speaking with them you can take a serious of jump pads across to a platform where the Wyvern will spawn.

Defeat the Wyvern to unlock the achievement. This guide is quite straight forward and you have plenty of time to kill it.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideMagnetic Attraction
Collect all eight magneton particles floating in the Magnetics Lab.

The Magnetics Lab can be found south of Anniogel Encampment in the Invariant Enclave region. Once you reach the lab you will find there’s a magnetic field that projects you up if you jump in the center.

Around the lab are various glowing blue orbs. Collect all the orbs and the achievement will unlock. You can also use the Griffon here to save time touching the ground.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement Guide A Branded Blast
Get hit by the captured Branded wyvern.

Inside the eastern complex you will need to take a series of platforms along a conveyor to reach the panel. On the way there will be a contained wyvern which will fire at the platforms as they pass. You need to be hit by the wyverns attack as you pass by.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideStimulus and Response
Solve the comms lab’s hive-mind experiment in only 3 steps.

Inside the Western Complex you will find a serious of doors blocked by electric fields. To open them you will need to press a sequence of buttons to disable the blockage. After the third door you will enter a room with a test chamber.

After entering the last room, you need to solve the puzzle to open the last door. The catch is you need to do this within 3 steps. There’s no time limit, just press the consoles in order from left to right. 1, 3 and 4. This can be a little slow register the console presses. If you make a mistake, go to character select to reset without leaving the map.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement Guide Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement Guide

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideTales of Elona
Listen to Ewyn’s story at his retreat.

Ewyn is found at Ewyn’s Retreat at The Hunting Grounds. Locate and speak with him. After talking to him, you need to interact with four piles of rocks around his retreat. He will tell you various stories about the rock piles and unlock the achievement after all four interactions.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideFaster Than Light
Activate the 4 door controls in the Invariant Enclave Lab in under 35 seconds.

This can be a little tricky but gets easier once you remember the pattern that the portal device takes. You can reset your progress by re-logging if you make a mistake.

One the starting platform there are two buttons, one with a two red arrows, another with a blue arrow. The blue arrow will place a blue portal on the platform you’re standing on. The rest arrow will rotate the cube portal device in the middle 180 degrees.

There ares three other buttons that control the portal device in the middle of the room. Two with grey arrows which just rotate the cube. And one blue arrow which will reset the blue portal on the starting platform. Each of these buttons only rotate the cube 45 degrees, unlike the 180 degree button on the starting platform.

After the second platform, you will need to reset the entry portal. From here you don’t need to place it again, so just keep re-entering the same portal until you get the achievement.

  1. Press the 180 degree red arrow, followed by the blue arrow. Take the portal.
  2. Hit the door button on platform 2. The press the single blue arrow button, then return to the starting platform.
  3. Press the red 180 degree button once and collect the starting platform door button. Press the blue arrow again. Take the portal to platform 3.
  4. Hit the door button on platform 3 and press the grey arrow three times.
  5. Return to platform one, and press the the 180 degree arrow button once and take the blue portal to the last platform.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideRescue Ranger
Rescue all skritt for Subject S on your way to the beach.

Subject S can be found on the north-western side of Rata Primus near the central area. He’s just north of Tunnel Access Beta. Once he spawns, you need to escort him down through the central area and out to the beach. On the way there will be various containment capsules that contain skritt test subjects. You need to release the test subjects and escort them to the beach along with Subject S.

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideThree Golem Monte
Consecutively choose the correct golem in all rounds of the Golem Eye Exam event.

In the Western Complex region of Rata Primus you will find a golem standing on a platform with a group of Inquest surrounding it. This event becomes active while a series of other events are happening. The event also appears in various different places around Rata Primus.

Ignore the inquest and interact with the Golem Eye Exam NPC on the platform. From here you need to guess which golem is the correct answer. At the start of each round the right golem will be struck with lightning. From here they all scatter around the platform. You then need to interact with the correct golem. if you get the right answer, a green particle effect will appear around the golem. If you guess wrong, then you will be shocked and pushed back.

You need to pick the correct golem for the five rounds. With each around more golems spawn, making this progressively more difficult. The first four rounds are fairly easy, where as the last one is quite difficult due to the golem size, and how quick they are.

I recommend standing back from the central of the platform and zooming your camera out. this will allow you to see more of the area and make it easier to follow the correct golem.

Collectibles

Guild Wars 2 A Bug in the System Achievement GuideRepairing IG-6417
Acquire the parts to repair IG-6417.

Before you can start this collection, you first need to complete the story. You will be rewarded with the Inquest Device which will start  your journey.

To start collecting the items for this part of the quest, you need to first kill Inquest around Rata Primus. Doing so will drop an Inquest Passcode to use for seven terminals around the area. The terminals are marked on the map below. Interacting with them will reward you with  seven different modules to program IG-6417.

After collecting the modules, return to IG-6417 and give them to the golem. You can only install one module a day, so this will take up to seven days to complete.

On the 7th day, after installing the final module, you will need to pay a visit to Hero Tron in Lion’s Arch. He can be found next to Captain Kiel’s Office near the stairs. He will repair a module for you.

Return to IG-6417 and update the damaged module. This will then proceed onto “Redeeming IG-6417”.
